The information we collect
When we provide you with financial advice and related services, we will collect and use significant amounts of information on your personal, family and financial circumstances, including information relating to your finances, employment and health. We will also collect and use your contact details such as telephone numbers and postal/e-mail addresses.
Why do we collect this information and what do we do with it?
It is necessary for us to collect this information in order to provide you with financial advice and related services.
We use your contact details to communicate with you in the course of providing our services and also for the purpose of marketing our services to you. We will not issue unsolicited marketing communications without your explicit consent where such consent is required by data protection/privacy laws or regulations. We will not pass your information to third parties for marketing purposes.
It will be necessary to pass relevant personal information about you to:
- The operators of administration and research software we use when providing our services to you.
- The providers of products and services such as investment platforms, investment fund managers and insurance companies when we bring you together with those third parties or when we investigate the possibility of doing so.

Verifying your identity
We are required to verify your identity for the purpose of the prevention of money laundering and other financial crime. To do this, we carry out electronic checks by supplying information about you to a credit referencing agency called CallCredit which checks that information against databases – public or private – to which they have access. A record of our checks will appear on your credit file but it will not affect your credit rating. An electronic check is usually sufficient to verify your identity but if we prove unable to verify your identity using an electronic check, we will ask you to provide documentary evidence.
- You have the right to see the personal information that we hold about you and to correct any inaccuracies
- You have the right to withdraw your consent for us to use your personal information
- You have the right to ask us to delete your information but it is likely that we will not be able to do so because of legal/regulatory obligations to retain records and because we would need our records to enable us to deal with any disputes that may arise in the future.
- You have the right to make a complaint to us about the way in which your personal information is stored or used.
