KEY PERSON COVER

Aim: To ensure business continuity by providing required funds resulting from either the development of critical illness and/or death of a Key Person during the policy term.

Our solution: Key Person cover is life assurance and/or life assurance with critical illness cover which is owned by the business but taken out on the life of the employee (Key Person) with the business paying the premiums and receiving the policy benefits.

IDENTIFYING A KEY PERSON

A Key Person can be described as an employee whose continued absence and/or death would affect the profits of the business.

Our solution: Shareholder Protection cover is life assurance and/or life assurance with critical illness cover which is taken out by the partner(s) and/or shareholder(s) on their own life with the business receiving the policy benefits, allowing them to compensate the family.

DEBT PROTECTION

Aim: To ensure business continuity by providing the required funds when/if a partner and/or director who has a guaranteed loan outstanding on the business develops a critical illness and/or passes away.

Our solution: Debt Protection is life assurance and/or life assurance with critical illness cover taken out by the individual who has a guaranteed loan, with the policy benefits either being paid to the individual or business.

Group Risk

GROUP LIFE INSURANCE

Aim: To provide a pre-defined level of cover to an employee in the event of them developing a critical illness and/or passing away during their time with the business.

Solution: Group Life Insurance is life assurance and/or life assurance with critical illness cover taken out by the business, with the appropriate level of benefit being paid to the individual employee’s chosen beneficiary.

GROUP INCOME PROTECTION

Aim: To provide a pre-defined level of cover to an employee in the event of them developing an illness and/or sustaining an injury that prevents them from working during their time with the business.

Our Solution: Group Income Protection is taken out by the business, with the appropriate level of benefit being paid to the individual employee.

Why has auto enrolment been introduced and how will it affect you?

The United Kingdom currently has an ageing population with many people not saving towards a retirement fund and placing a great emphasis on the State Pension. To alleviate this pressure, the Government have introduced auto enrolment to encourage greater saving activity upon starting employment, to ensure all eligible individuals are making regular saving contributions towards their future retirement.

Each company was given a staging date from 2012 to 2018 in order to introduce these schemes and new companies launching from February 2018 with one employee or more will have to have a scheme in place.

Auto enrolment

The Government is keen to encourage all workers to save for their retirement, introducing new legislation to support people in saving for the future. Prior to February 2018 all employers, starting with the largest employers first, had to enrol their Eligible Workers into a work place pension. Now, new businesses  must ensure they have a scheme in place for their employees.

New startup companies

Any new startup company established after February 2018 with one or more employee will need to set up an auto enrolment scheme straight away and put any eligible staff into the scheme. At Manse Corporate we can support you in identifying your eligible employees and setting up the scheme in an efficient and compliant manner.

The Government’s criteria states that eligible workers are defined by the following :
  • • Be at least 22 years old
  • • Have not reached State Pension Age
  • • Earn more than a minimum amount a year, (currently £10,000)
  • • Work, or ordinarily work, in the UK (under their contract)
Workers will not be automatically enrolled into a pension scheme if:
  • • They are not eligible based on the aforementioned criteria; or
  • • They are already in a workplace pension scheme that meets the Government's standards
